Victory for Moldova’s animals!

Today, 1^st October 2018 a new bill came into force in the Republic of Moldova.

A long awaited and long fought for by local animal welfare activists. It is the article 222 (1) of the criminal code with a provision to animal abuse regulations.

The article places a duty of care on people to ensure they take reasonable steps in all the circumstances to meet the welfare needs of the animals and is establishing a monetary punishment for cases of animal abuse as well as classifies it as a criminal offence with 1-3 years of prison time.
